Cielo Top | Intro to Garments
What you will be doing:

This 3 week class will cover all the essential skills to jumpstart your journey of sewing clothes that fit your unique body and style! After this class you’ll have the confidence to tackle a range of garment sewing projects.

Using the Cielo Top and Dress Pattern from Closet Core, you’ll get hands-on experience working with sewing patterns, including making pattern adjustments to ensure a good fit.

We’ll cover a range of essential garment sewing skills, including tracing patterns, cutting out fabric, finishing seams, sewing facings, and hemming. And you’ll end class with a super cute and wearable top!

Cielo Top and Dress Pattern from Closet Core (please note that this pattern is available as a print pattern for sizes 0-20 [B cup] and as a PDF pattern for sizes 14-32 [D cup]. If you fall into the second size range, please let us know and we are happy to assist you in buying and printing a PDF pattern!) If you prefer a more masculine style, please let us know and we’re happy to recommend an alternative for you!

Light to medium weight woven fabric according to your size

All purpose polyester thread to match your fabric

Basic sewing tools (Including fabric scissors, thread snips, pins, seam ripper, and fabric marking tools).

Sewing machine in good working order. Much like driving, we find it’s best to learn on what machine you have available to you! Please be sure to bring the foot pedal, power cord, machine manual, and all accessories. If you do not have your own sewing machine you may rent one during class for an additional fee.

* This class is designed for age 16+
* Cancellation Notice: We kindly ask that makers give a minimum 1 week notice of cancellation for class credit/reschedule and a 2 week cancellation notice for full refund. This advance notice will allow us to make any necessary adjustments to our schedule and accommodate other makers.
Refunds: Class cancellations made with a 2 week notice or more will either receive a full refund on a gift card, or a full refund minus the $5 card processing fee to the card that was used to purchase the class registration. This fee accounts for the costs associated with the transaction and ensures a smooth and secure refund process. Multi-week courses fill more slowly and a 72 hour notice (current single class policy) is not enough time to fill an empty spot.

| Skill Details: | Open to sewists that know the basics of using a sewing machine and can sew a straightish seam and maintain a mostly accurate seam allowance. Classes will have minimal homework between sessions for minimal independent work. If you’ve taken our Beginner Sewing Series or have sewn small projects on your own, you are welcome in our beginner classes. |

| Instructor Bio: | Mikayla Turner (@mikayla_sews) is a lifelong sewist who has found that the only thing she loves more than spending time at her machine is teaching others to sew! She primarily sews garments but has been known to make quilts from time to time. Her insatiable curiosity drives her to learn everything she can about sewing, always expanding her skill and expertise. As an instructor she has a particular passion for teaching beginners, and strives to create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible and inclusive. |
