Thrift Flip Workshop

Give "pre-loved" a whole new meaning! Instead of letting those thrift store finds sit in your closet, learn how to deconstruct and reimagining them into something completely unique. This 2-session workshop is all about seeing the potential in oversized, outdated, or "almost-perfect" garments and turning them into a wardrobe staple that fits your vibe.
What you'll be doing
- Learn how to analyze a garment’s construction to see what’s possible (and what’s not)
- Deconstruct clothing items to be ready to sew into something new.
- How to add darts, elastic, or new hems to make a "found" item fit your body perfectly.
Example projects
Bring 2–3 items from your closet or the thrift store that you’d like to transform. (Look for items with "good bones" or high-quality fabric that are 1–2 sizes too large). Have a few ideas in mind and Dani will help you determine which project will best fit the time in class and your skill level.
- Convert an oversized button-up into a dress.
- Turn a pair of jeans or pants into a skirt.
- Take the sleeves off of a blazer to make a vest.
- Combine a shirt and pants into a jumpsuit.
Cancellation Notice: We kindly ask that students give a minimum 1 week notice for class credit/reschedule and a 2 week cancellation notice for full refund. This advance notice will allow us to make any necessary adjustments to our schedule and accommodate other makers.
Refunds: Class cancellations made with a 2 week notice or more will either receive a full refund on a gift card, or a full refund minus the $5 card processing fee to the card that was used to purchase the class registration. This fee accounts for the costs associated with the transaction and ensures a smooth and secure refund process. Multi-week courses fill more slowly and a 72 hour notice (current single class policy) is not enough time to fill an empty spot.
| Skill Level: | Intermediate |
| Skill Details: | Open to confident beginners and intermediate sewists who are comfortable using their sewing machine and can follow a basic pattern mostly on their own.
