Charlie Caftan | Beginner Garment

What you will be doing:
Summer is nearly here, and in this Baltimore heat staying comfortable is paramount! The Charlie Caftan by Closet Core Patterns looks equally beautiful brunching on the patio or sipping a beverage poolside. The Charlie looks best in a drapey fabric like rayon or a rayon blend, and is a forgiving enough pattern to make working with these fabrics less intimidating. We’ll cover skills like sewing dolman sleeves, sewing a V neck facing, inseam pockets, and sewing a matching belt. You can choose between a short mini length or a gathered maxi length, and spend all summer looking and feeling cool!
What do you bring: (All supplies are available in shop and can be purchased with a 10% class discount.)

-
Lightweight woven fabric according to your measurements. This pattern works best in lightweight, drapey fabrics. Linen is also a nice option for extra breathability.
-
All purpose cotton or polyester thread
-
Lightweight fusible interfacing
-
Tracing paper and writing utensils (optional but helpful)
-
Your sewing machine (if you don’t have your own, you can borrow one of ours! If bringing your own, be sure to remember the cord and pedal and manual).
-
Basic sewing tools (Including fabric scissors, thread snips, seam ripper, and fabric marking tools. We have some classroom supplies available, however it may be helpful to have your own tools).
We kindly ask that students give a minimum 1 week notice for class credit/reschedule and a 2 week cancellation notice for full refund. This advance notice will allow us to make any necessary adjustments to our schedule and accommodate other makers.
Refunds: Class cancellations made with a 2 week notice or more will either receive a full refund on a gift card, or a full refund minus the $5 card processing fee to the card that was used to purchase the class registration. This fee accounts for the costs associated with the transaction and ensures a smooth and secure refund process. Multi-week courses fill more slowly and a 72 hour notice (current single class policy) is not enough time to fill an empty spot.
