Presser Feet 101

What you will be doing:
Presser feet are essential accessories that can make your sewing life easier and achieve more professional results, however many people find them intimidating and end up sticking to the default foot for all their projects. This class will build your confidence in using the right foot for the job, and will help give you an idea of which feet you might want to add to your kit to make your sewing tasks easier! Next time you’re taking on something a bit more advanced like an invisible zipper or piping, you’ll be able to say “Oh! I have a foot for that!”

What do you bring: (All supplies are available in shop and can be purchased with a 10% class discount.)

• Your sewing machine, all presser feet and accessories, and manual
• If you don’t have a manual, Mikayla is happy to help you find it online!
• Fabric scraps for testing out presser feet
• Notebook and writing utensils
• Basic sewing tools (Including fabric scissors, thread snips, seam ripper, and fabric marking tools. We have some classroom supplies available, however it may be helpful to have your own tools).

Cancellation Notice: We kindly ask that makers give a minimum 72 hours' notice of cancellation or rescheduling needs. This advance notice will allow us to make any necessary adjustments to our schedule and accommodate other makers.

Refunds: Class cancellations made with a 72 hour notice or more will either receive a full refund on a gift card, or a full refund minus the $5 card processing fee to the card that was used to purchase the class registration. This fee accounts for the costs associated with the transaction and ensures a smooth and secure refund process.

Skill Level:	Beginner
Skill Details:	Open to sewists that know the basics of using a sewing machine and can sew a straightish seam and maintain a mostly accurate seam allowance. Classes will have minimal homework between sessions for minimal independent work. If you’ve taken our Beginner Sewing Series or have sewn small projects on your own, you are welcome in our beginner classes.

Instructor Bio:	Mikayla Turner (@mikayla_sews) is a lifelong sewist who has found that the only thing she loves more than spending time at her machine is teaching others to sew! She primarily sews garments but has been known to make quilts from time to time. Her insatiable curiosity drives her to learn everything she can about sewing, always expanding her skill and expertise. As an instructor she has a particular passion for teaching beginners, and strives to create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible and inclusive.
