Quilt-a-thon | Week 6

The Building Blocks Quilt from The Quilting Book has it all, from basic & curved piecing to English & foundation paper piecing. This quilt will guide you from a beginner to confident quilter, giving you the skills to confidently tackle future quilting projects.

Each Quilt-a-thon Workshop will start with quick lesson for a quilting technique used in Building Blocks. Use the rest of the workshop to make progress on your quilt and get the help you need from Jenni.

Quilt-a-thon Week 6

One of quilting's most essential building blocks! Learn efficient techniques for making accurate half-square triangles you'll use again and again. We will build on this technique and make Quarter Square Triangles as well!

What to bring:

  • Your copy of The Quilting Book
  • Notebook and pen to use to plan your quilt
  • Basic sewing tools (Including fabric scissors, thread snips, pins, seam ripper, and fabric marking tools).
  • Sewing machine in good working order. Much like driving, we find it’s best to learn on what machine you have available to you! Please be sure to bring the foot pedal, power cord, machine manual, and all accessories. If you do not have your own sewing machine you may rent one during class for an additional fee.
  • Optional: Cutting mat, rotary cutter and ruler. We have 4 cutting stations available in The Stitch Easy to share.
*Rent a sewing machine during all class sessions for a $5 fee. Choose the option of class + materials when signing up*

Workshop fee includes 10% discount for supplies needed for the Quilt-a-thon.

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Open to sewists that know the basics of using a sewing machine and can sew a straightish seam and maintain a mostly accurate seam allowance. If you’ve taken our Beginner Sewing Series or have sewn small projects on your own, you are welcome in our beginner classes.
Instructor: Jenni Engleman
Instructor Bio: Jenni has always loved crafting - from making friendship bracelets and potholders as a kid to embroidery and cross stitch as a teen and making quilts and attempting clothes as a young adult. Her love of quilting began as a child helping her great-grandmother make baby quilts for all the grandbabies. They were precious early morning moments that she still cherishes. Jenni’s absolute favorite thing to do is to teach people the super-power of sewing and seeing the joy on their face as they discover their own talent!
